A former mayor of Catubig town in Northern Samar was killed in an ambush staged by unidentified armed men. Assailants attacked the victim, Saesar "Sase" Vicencio, after a meeting of the association of barangay captains that he headed. De Jesus was reportedly hit on the back and hand. One of his bodyguards, identified as Maya Areniado, however was reportedly killed instantly.
