The world is getting "very close" to a pandemic as the new A/H1N1 flu virus spreads further around the globe, a senior World Health Organization (WHO) official said yesterday.

Cebu City tops list of dengue cases
DESPITE the drop in the number of cases, Cebu City still tops the list of having the most number of reported dengue cases in Central Visayas. Dr. Raymond Ogan, dengue coordinator of the Cebu City Health Department, said that 319 reported cases and the nine deaths from January to May this year were still fewer than the 584 cases and 25 deaths recorded by the City Epidemiology Statistics and Surveillance Unit (Cessu).
