Power rates to go up by P0.90

Starting next month, electric consumers in Metro Cebu will pay an additional 90 centavos (or P0.9346) per kilowatt-hour as the Visayan Electric Company implements a rate increase following the National Power Corporation hike in generation charge.

Ayon pa sa National Statistics Office (NSO), noong Enero 2008 umaabot lamang sa 7.4 percent ang nawalan ng trabaho sa bansa.

 The National Statistic Office (NSO) reported yesterday that there are now 2.855 million jobless Filipinos in January as the local unemployment rate increased to 7.7 percent owing to the global economic crisis.

Results of the latest NSO survey showed that the number of unemployed Filipinos rose from an estimated 2.675 million in January last year to 2.8 million this year.
